As you know, Medicare has expanded the availability of Telehealth Services to providers and patients all over the country regardless of their location.
We have been doing our best to disseminate this information to you as quickly and accurately as possible. Often we are preparing one newsletter only to have to re-write it and start again before the first version can even be sent out.
BREAKING NEWS:
- Medicare has expanded the list of services available via Telehealth. Attached is the expanded list: List of Telehealth services by updated 4.6.2020
- For services provided to patients via Telehealth (using audio/visual technology), Medicare has instructed providers to use the Place of Service that would normally be used if performed in-person/face-to-face as well as appending modifier 95 to the service. This will allow for payment to be made at the rate you would normally be paid at. As an example, office visit 99213, patients typically come into the office, so you would bill with POS 11, under Telehealth add modifier 95 to indicate service was performed as Telehealth.
